This girl appears to be into attention. Personally I would steer clear because if things go south it will be all over her social media hurting your chances with anyone in the same social circle. She might be just weird but there are plenty of other girls out there that are probably a lot more straight forward.

Stay friends if your ok with just being platonic friends. Otherwise treat her like other classmates.

In all honesty, it appears as though you misread and interpreted the girl’s general personality and friendliness as signals. I think that you’re going to be in for a lot of heartache and disappointment if you continue to believe:

1) Any attention and physical contact from a female automatically implies attraction and/or any sort of interest in an intimate connection. 2) Just because you act and react in a particular way then anyone else who acts and/or reacts in the same way must feel the same way that you do.

Both of you are trying very hard to communicate without actually communicating because neither one of you wants for it to be awkward or hurtful for either one of you. However, often things DO get awkward and hurtful when people avoid saying exactly what is on their minds. To begin with, you never actually asked her out on a date. You said yourself that you two had been hanging out already so, in your mind, the next time you saw her you asked if she wanted to hang out, again.

Of course she’s not going to say no. But she also doesn’t know that you mean you’d like to take her out romantically. Furthermore, you don’t realize that you’ve already misinterpreted several things up to this point. She has a very friendly, likely outgoing, personality. I’d be willing to bet that part of her personality includes her making physical contact with people, not only with you. What you perceived previously as her eyefucking you was most likely her returning your gaze in a friendly manner and recognition that you had several classes together, nothing more. She returns your texts promptly because that too is part of her personality.

I don’t think that you’re fully responsible since neither one of you flat out said anything to define your friendship. I also don’t think that you’re necessarily relegated to the “friend zone” forever. What you don’t know though is that most women, especially much younger women, prefer to move MUCH, MUCH slower than men when it comes to relationships. I know that might sound ironic to many people, but I swear it’s true.

Her post about “Relationship Goals” was actually something you can look at retrospectively and see that it means she’s not picturing herself as being part of a couple with you, at least not yet. However, that was a snapshot worthy moment, so don’t throw it away from your mind. The snapchat she sent about “the guy you thought you had a platonic friendship with who grabs you and kisses you” is also a message that she’s not feeling the same way as you. When she says she has a good time with you, enjoys spending time with you and things along those lines, she means it, but she’s not thinking about the future and she doesn’t have any physical feelings to go along with those feelings.

You said yourself it’s only been a couple of weeks. She may not have had enough time to get to know you, to decide if you’re the type of person who she might want to have a relationship with. Not everyone goes about finding a romantic partner the same way. Some people are more pragmatic, reserved, conservative or have different things they look for while others don’t really realize what it is that drives their attraction other than looks.

I truly think that talking to her is the best approach in your situation. Since you’re concerned about awkwardness, I’d decide if you want to be friends with her regardless of whether there’s a romantic connection or not. She may have already decided that she’s not comfortable, but I think you can still salvage it if you talk to her and apologize for the honest mistake. I’d apologize for the misunderstanding and for being over-eager. I’d let her know that you won’t make any further advances towards her, unless she decides to make it clear in the future that she’s interested in pursuing a relationship, at which point you’ll certainly be willing to discuss it further. Until then, tell her sincerely that you really don’t want for things to be awkward or uncomfortable for anyone.

I also wouldn’t focus on anything other than being friends with her, or any girls for that matter. If your friendship grows closer, stronger and finally intimate, then so be it. The biggest issue that many men have is that they try to force things to work or fit together. Best wishes!
