I just realized I have an absolutely horrible time approaching in bars. I’m not a super charming and sociable man. So I was fairly drunk last night, alone at the bar for an hour, and made 0 approaches. Even when I was intoxicated, I still had big fears of approaching random groups. I think once I get comfortable approaching random people in any situation, maybe I’ll try bars again but not for now.

The reality of the situation is I have absolutely 0 social game and I’m too much in my head. Being at lvl 1, with no friends, I need to be in an environment I feel comfortable in. So if you’re someone like me, you’d want to connect with people at concerts because you’re there for a similar interest. Just be at a social event because you actually like the activity. I like to dance so clubs are probably a better environment for me to interact. If you’re a male in your young 20s, no friends, and not super socially calibrated, bars are most likely not going to yield much results unless you’re insanely handsome. For someone like me, being exposed daily to people my age will help me get out of my own head. Even though I haven’t played tennis or basketball in several years, I’m gonna try to join the intramural teams at my school. What do you think? Am I rationalizing my constant fear of approaching at bars alone by saying it’s just not my environment?
