How similar are your conversations on a first date with a stranger, compared with how you talk too a stranger at a bar who you just approached?

Are they quite similar? (assuming you are able to maintain the interest of a girl on a cold approach)

So, both times you're asking her about her hobbies, her family, her job etc etc?

I've never had a date, but for some reason I imagine it being even more awkward and a bit like a job interview.

I watch a program called 'first dates' that airs here in the UK, and it kind of cool, but lots of the dates are so awkward which kind of confirms my fears.

But it seems like being a 'good date' is almost a separate skill, and very required nowadays since it seems that tinder is making cold approach a bit obsolete!

I know people who don't do well with cold approach, but who must do well on 'dates' since they get laid a lot from tinder.

I wonder what the secret is to good/fun first date conversation.
