I'm not exactly your typical PUA- I don't really go out looking for women as such (I talk to people all day, every day at work- I don't always want to go meet new people after work). I just haven't focussed any attention on girls for a few years because I've been distracted with enjoying my single life. That said, I'm now at a point where maybe I'd like to find someone to share my life with.
Here's what happened: I work at a corporate coffee shop, and have for a long time. Drive thru is kind of my forte, so I'm there often getting to know customers. Well, of course there will be beautiful young women coming to get their caffeine fix. One girl, I'll call her HB8, comes through about once or twice a week. A couple weeks ago, on a wednesday, she came through the DT. I took her order, and flirted with her as I often do at the window. Handed out her drink, told her to have a great day, and she drove off. Except I forgot to give her her pastry. "NOOOOOO!!!" I cried out loud (in my head). She's going to hate me, right? Two days later, I see her coming (our drive through is such that we can see any car coming a mile away). She pulls up:
Wookiee: "HEY, I forgot to give you your pastry the other day, I am SO SORRY, whatever drink you want today is on me!"
HB8: (immediate response) "You are SO NICE, are you single?"
Wookiee: "Yes.. would you like my number?" (forgive me, I wasn't thinking for a second, I was taken off guard)
So then she pulled around to the window, and she gave me her number, and we've since had our first date, going on our second tomorrow.
Here's WHY I think it happened: Confidence. I am NOT a very attractive guy. I'd say I'm a 3/10 on a bad day, maybe a 5.5/10 on a good day, but I've learned to dress well. A goofy bow tie can't hurt sometimes (my peacocking- guys don't wear these often enough). But I've learned to stop second-guessing myself, and I don't let the haters bring me down. I walk as though I own the place, I joke a little, even if I'm nervous. Also, I prayed about a week before this, and I think the Big Guy upstairs may have pulled some strings, but I know a lot of you guys aren't interested in hearing about that.
I used to think "I'll never find an attractive girl to date until I lose weight" or I just didn't think I could be that guy who people want to be around. But while I was in that frame of mind, I couldn't do shit. After a while, I started to question these 'limitations', the mental barriers I had placed on myself that made me think "I'll never be good enough". I am good enough. You are good enough.
TL;DR Got a date in the drive thru just because I'm the shit.
