I matched with “Jane” on tinder and her bio said Enough chit chat, let’s go out so that’s exactly what I did. I asked her Should we get coffee or drinks for our first date? And she replied coffee so on our first date last Sunday afternoon we got Vietnamese iced coffee and walked around the neighborhood. We walked and talked for about two hours and vibed really well, I walked her back to her place and we agreed to see each other again.
Second date I invite her over to my place for dinner. I set the scene: chill sexy music (Glass Animal’s first album), simple but delicious dinner, low lighting. She comes over as I’m finishing up cooking and we talk and drink wine I asked her to bring. After dinner I lead her over to the couch, we chat some more, I tell her Come here and we start making out. Things get heated pretty quickly and we go to the bedroom and have sex twice. It was a little awkward at first (we had both recently gotten out of LTRs and we were each other’s first post-breakup hookups) but we laughed through the awkwardness and had a great night. There’s a (former?) mod for this sub who had a post in which he recommends investing in a good quality mattress and sheets and I have to thank him for that recommendation; the second time we had sex was due to her not wanting to leave my bed because it was so comfortable!
Takeaways: -I go back and forth when it comes to how early to ask a girl out on a dating app. On the one hand it can be nice to see if there’s a good connection before meeting up but I have been burned before where we were texting for weeks, meet up, and the attraction doesn’t carry over into real life. I’ve also been burned by opening with asking to get together immediately and finding no real life attraction, slogging through a no spark date. I think the ideal is having enough pre-meetup texting to establish the two of you can talk and transitioning to scheduling a date as soon as you feel interested in seeing her. With Jane I just got lucky we vibed IRL.
-A lot of posts on here emphasize kiss-closing or having sex on the first date, and going into this date and one prior I came in with that expectation, not being met either time. However it’s not necessary; obviously it’s ideal and can keep her more invested but mine was a slower game and it still worked out! With my ex at the end of a similar first date I asked her if I could kiss her goodbye and she said Not yet, that’s all I needed to hear and we made out in her car at the end of our second date.
I’m no Master PUA and I would ask more experienced guys to ask and dissect what could have gone better but I wanted to write this to show how simple all of this can be. We are in for a fruitful summer: free of covid, girls are emerging from quarantine, many fresh out of breakups, and it doesn’t take much to find quality women who are looking to hook up.
