This week I've been frustrated with the fact that I'm not meeting enough new people. I spend most of my days and nights at school and I spend day in and day out with the same 32 people (theater school) and after a while, that shit gets BORING. So yesterday, my friends and I decided to hit up a bar.
Before going out, my roommate offered me a cookie that his girlfriend cooked. Half-way through the cookie, I asked them if they had weed in it. They did. My first thought was 'FUCK!' but after realizing I couldn't do anything to fix the situation, I accepted my fate and continued on with my plans.
I did a lot of opening last night, but I'm only gonna fill you guys in on the memorable stuff.
Set 1
We get into the bar. I'm high as FUCK but somehow, it's my friends that are more nervous; trying to think of lines, etc.. My friends around me are doubting my ability to approach at this point due to the fact that cookie has kicked in but I say fuck that and tell them to play the GO! game (If you're not familiar with this game, it's a SimplePickUp game. Your friend points to a girl and says 'go'. You then have 3 seconds to approach that girl or you have to do 5 push ups right where you're standing).
My friend points to a two-set of HB8's with a dude. I approach.
Me: Hey guys, my friends are trying to think of pick up lines to use on chicks. What are some good lines to use?
Girl1: Uhhh, we don't know any.
Girl2: Yea, we don't use pick up lines.
Me: Well..SOMEBODY'S got confidence here.
Then the guy starts trying to AMOG me with techniques that I've used on guys hitting on my girls.
Guy: Ha, looks like he's trying to hit on you girls.
Me: Yea, I am. It's not working. Can you help me out, man?
Guy: Hey! And now he just flipped that on me. This one's a closer!
Me: (Smile) You're good at this.
We end up having a conversation with these chicks about Magic School Bus and other stuff and then we leave the set.
Set 2
Guy pulls me out of the set and pushes me into another set and says 'Magic School Bus Opener. Go.'
I open a three-set of girls with 'Hey guys, do you remember The Magic School Bus?'
Girl1: OMFG! I fuckin' love that shooooow! Ms. Friz.
Me: Bitch, that's Ms. FRIZZLE, to you!
Girl2: (Laughing) No it's cool, she lets us call her Ms. Friz.
Me: Wait a minute, were you guys on the show?
Girl2: Oh, totally!
Meanwhile, Guy from last set walks up and I introduce him to the group. At this point, I've only kino'd with hi-fives. This guy was only about 30 seconds into the set and already had two of the three girls around him. While he did that, I told my target 'we should hug so we don't be come the awkward foreveralones'. She laughed and we hugged and talked some more.
Guy and I left the set. Turns out, this guy's a regular on the RSD boards and is a beast when it comes to game. We take each other's contact info and part ways.
Set 3
I go back to my group of friends. As we're standing around, I notice a really attractive 7-set of chicks sitting on a bench at the patio. I call GO on one of my friends. He stood there and kept trying to think of openers but the 3 seconds was up and he had to do push-ups. He did, but he still wanted to approach. He kept coming up with the excuse that he had no openers. I kept reminding him that it's not what you say first; it's what comes after that's more important. He agrees but keeps trying to think of an opener. At this point, I'm getting frustrated because I wanna talk to these chicks, so I tell him I'm going.
I go up to the group.
Me: Hey, are you guys planning to leave the table any time soon?
Girl1: No, we just got here.
Me: Well, that sucks. My friends and I really wanna sit down. Is it cool if I sit down with you guys til they come?
Girl2: No, it's ok.
Me: Alright, I'll just stand here then.
I notice I've only been speaking to the two on the right and completely ignored the left.
Me: Oh snap, you have a friend here that I've been completely ignoring. Hi, I'm sayn.
I exchange names with all the group members and I keep cracking stupid jokes, mostly entertaining myself when one of my friend arrives.
Friend: Is this guy bothering you?
Girl3: No, we're just talking.
Friend: I'm joking, he's one of my friends. (He introduces himself to the group)
After a few minutes of shit talking, we leave the set.
Set 4
I walk onto the patio and notice RSDGuy talking to a group. He spots me and calls me over. We talk with group for a bit but after a while, the girls got cold and said they were going inside. I tell RSDGuy about the GO! game and tell him to point me out a set. He points to a group with 2 girls (one HB9.5 and one HB7) and one guy in a suit. This was probably my worst set of the night due to the fact I was getting a major burnout from the cookies at this point, but I'm still reporting it.
Walked up to the group.
Me: Hey dude, nice suit. Did you just come from a business meeting?
SuitDude: Yea, totally man. Just made a lot of money.
Me: That's cool. You look like a baller.
At this point, I get stuck in a conversation with suit dude and only occasionally talk to the HB's when SuitDude would bring them into the convo. Most of the time was spent AMOGing him, which felt strange to me because I hate being the AMOG/cockblock. I chocked it up as a side-effect from the burnout. I finally started talking to the two girls but my game just got sloppy at that point.
After that set, my next 10 sets were pretty shitty. I wasn't taking the rejections to heart at all, but I was just really fuckin' burnt out. I was pretty much walking into sets with this face.
The thing I learned about yesterday though, I have zero AA when it comes to people telling me to go into a set, but it takes me a little will power to actually do it solo. I also need to step up my kino game BIG TIME. After seeing RSDGuy have a chick around his arm within seconds while I'm still cracking jokes really made me assess where I'm at. I'm glad I've come a long way from being that shy guy and can now start and keep conversations with anyone, but I don't just want to be the social guy; I want to bed some females.
Thanks for reading!
