I got through certain moods in life. Sometimes I am deeply introspective which highly hurts my ability to do pick up as I'm not really in the present moment and I can't be bothered to communicate about trivialities. These introspective periods and punctuated by bursts of extroversion where I have my best successes.
Needless to say, I have some constancy problems with women. On my good days I can pull of several # closes in a single way, with occasional Kiss closes, but as what I would personally label as an intermediate, the best definition I can think of is "one who is good enough to impress friends and the general public, but is not consistent in his results."
With that said when I read [this](http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2011/05/110524070310.htm?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed:%20sciencedaily%20(ScienceDaily:%20Latest%20Science%20News) article submitted to seddit my ears perked up. There was a lot speculation in the comments page that the brooding individual, who was ranked as sexually attractive, was met with skepticism that it would work in the field, and yet brooding is a common pose for male models who are sex symbols. Fictional Characters like Batman, James Bond or Atticus Finch are individuals who in their stories take life seriously but are reworded with real world admiration. Advantages to this personality type is a strong reality, but serious pensive types, while being good conversationalists, typically do not start them on their own. The principal challenge is figuring out how to approach and escalate while in this mental state.
What is the disconnected between aloof cool guy in a club who never approaches, and the confident fun guy you may not feel like all the time.
Can you be in a deeply pensive, stoic mood and still approach and create attraction? Or must you move into a different state in order to attract? If you have experimented with this, let me know.
Yesterday, decided to test this. Biked over to my local B&N and immediately see a girl who is attractive but get stuck in AA. Fuck. I know traditionally I would just say "Hey, I just had to meet you because you were adorable" but that would be just going into established paths and not testing my hypothesis at all. I got stuck in indecision and didn't even approach.
I mull around the store and check all my usual haunts for cute girls. The manga aisle is free of the occasional cutie, (Aside: this specific aisle has been gold for me in the past. In fact a Month before I met an HB7.0 [with make up and dolled a solid 9] and got her number. For logistical reason [finals season] day two didn't happen [by the time finals was done it was time for her to head back home.] but I was talking to a friend and one of his platonic girlfriends not two days before this post date. Turns out platonic girlfriend knew the girl. Turns out she referred to me as "bookshop boy" [giving me David Wygant flashbacks] and really wanted to date me despite having a boyfriend who was never mentioned when I first met her. Damn logistics.) the current clientèle seem to be out of my prospective age range or attractive features so I open a book and enjoy re-reading A Game of Thrones. I spend about thirty minutes engrossed in the trials and tribulations of the Stark family and turn around and notice two HB 6s reading cookbooks. Intrigued I open with. I'm bad with verbatim conversations but the gist was: "Are those cookbooks."
"Yes they are."
"Awesome, what cuisine."
General conversation flowed. It was pleasant but it wasn't going anywhere, the stuck in your head problem One of them was happen to entertain any conversation but wouldn't pick up dead moments and would just turn to her friend. Friend wasn't into me at all, not that she hated me, just blind indifference.
Current findings: It's hard to NOT do traditional pick up when you are experimenting with different styles. Due to a lack of focus and congruence, I was unable to hook beyond a casual conversation. Will report more traditional FRs and whatever this fun time is as time goes on.
