So I approached a girl in the dining hall at my college. I asked if she could watch my stuff. I came back. Also, I'm running for student government, so I intro'd myself and then asked for her support, and then we had a good chat for 20-30 mins. or so. She seemed receptive and was smiling. Eye contact. Lots of it. Body language didn't seem closed off. I was able to get her number.

Then, we left the dining hall. We arrived her place. I tried to hug her, but she backed off. She said that she doesn't "hug people she doesn't really know". I played it off. Abeit, not as smooth as I wanted it to be. Ah wells. I said "we'll hang out soon." She said "sounds good!".

Hypotheses: -She is shy, but attracted to me enough to give me her number -She is shy -She is shy, and not attracted to me

These varying degrees are possible.

Self-improvement: Keep eye contact Try to improve on the silent eye contact Able to read if she's shy or not

Next steps: Text her later on Ask her on a date -judging on her shyness, lunch would be a more moderate date before escalating to dinner Determine how shy she is, and react upon that varying factor

TL;DR: Not bad.
