I went to an opening party at a salon on Friday night that several of my friends frequent (it just opened a new location), and decided it was time to get a haircut, so today I just walked into the salon. When I got there, it was empty besides two girls. They were joking about how they wanted to order food, but one girl had lots of shit in her hair and didn't want anyone to see her. They caught me smirking at their conversation, so I joined in.

One girl got on the phone and left soon after that, but I had an on and off conversation with the second girl while the hair dresser cut my hair and she waited around. When I was finished and had paid, I had a small moment's hesitation, but I just sacked up and went back to ask the girl for her phone number. Actually, I just said that it was nice to meet her and that we should hang out some time then handed her my phone. I've used this trick at least three times in the last two weeks and the girls take it really well.

I ended up staying a little longer than planned after I got her number because we got caught up in a conversation, but I eventually dipped out. Unfortunately, because we were in a hair salon and someone was constantly working on her hair or mine, kino was pretty much nothing aside from a couple handshakes. I'll probably text her tomorrow and try to set up a Friday meeting and take things from there.

The main reason I wanted to write this was to showcase the difference between myself from how I was before. Even just two weeks ago, before I found seddit, I wouldn't have ever dreamed of asking for a girl's number in situation one like this, and probably wouldn't have even engaged in more than the most polite, brief conversation. I think people might get discouraged reading FRs about F-closes that other guys are getting, when they go out and have a hard time getting numbers or making moves after getting numbers, but I think it's important for all the guys who are out there just starting that any "win", no matter how small, is still a win. It's all about improvement.

I ran into a friend basically as I was leaving an open mic night, which I went to to practice kino on friends while I was sober so it would become more natural. My friend walked up with two girls, so I stopped to talk for a moment and was immediately kinoing the girl my friend seemed like he wasn't interested in. We talked for a couple minutes. They're both dental hygienists so we joked about how much of a discount I could get if I went to their place to get my teeth cleaned. Handed the girl my phone and got a number.
