So I was riding in the elevator (4th-1st floor if that matters.) All the while I am whistling Radiohead's 15 step. There is a girl next to me and out of nowhere she says "I'm glad I'm not the only one who whistles in the elevator."

I make a joke about how awkward it is that the engineering department refuses to play elevator music so that us socially maladjusted engineers have to socialize. We exit the elevator and walk out the building making small talk, she gets a phone call and I head to work.

Did I mess this up? Does the fact that SHE approached me mean that I missed a possible #close and second date?

What should I have done in the situation? Instinct tells me that I should've just said: "Hi, I'm stonerpua, I loved our little elevator chat and maybe sometime we could meet up and whistle at eachother some more" /me shoves phone at her chest, gets number, and walks away.

Is that what I should've done, does that work, have I analyzed any of this correctly?

In addition, I've been having AA issues lately and this seems to be the root of it. This was a no risk situation, I will most likely never see this girl ever again, why didn't I have the guts to just throw myself out there, seems like I'm getting to the roots of my AA issues.
