Last night, I decided to go to an NYE countdown party by myself at one of the biggest malls here in my country (somewhere in SE Asia). I went there with the sole intention of meeting girls and possibly even getting a number or a kiss! Unfortunately, I got neither of those as I failed to approach every single one of the girls that I spotted and found attractive last night. As the title states, this FR is about my failed attempt at "sarging" if you can call it that. I'm not really sure if anyone will find this post useful or helpful. I guess I just want to get some feedback from you guys as to what could or should have been done if you were in my situation.
First, a few things about me. I'm a 5'8" Asian guy, 23, athletic and I was dressed rather nicely last night. Nothing too fancy, just casual. I have a moderate to fair skin complexion, and while I'm not terribly ugly, I don't consider myself as insanely attractive either. Anyway, since it was night time I like to think that how I carried myself mattered more than what I was actually wearing. So I went, and all in, I believe I had a total of six different opportunities to meet girls last night. And like I said earlier, I blew my chances on each and every one of them.
I arrived at the venue at around 9:30PM. At first, I walked around not really knowing what to do. I had absolutely no clue as to how I should start. I went to the concert area and didn't really see anyone attractive. Those that were had their boyfriends wrapped around them like boa constrictors.
At some point during the concert, after walking around and looking for a good spot (the place was already crowded), I thought to myself that I'll never make any progress in that kind of location, since everyone was fixated on the stage and keeping an eye on what was going on up there. I thought I'd have a better chance by finding people who were actually walking around as well, or at least not pre-occupied by the spectacle going on in the concert area. So I left, and immediately opportunities to meet girls started to present themselves.
The first opportunity appeared to me when I decided to go for a hotdog sandwich after about 30 minutes of walking around and not making any progress. So I was in line and waiting to tell the guy at the hotdog stand what my order was, when an HB7 appeared to order something right next to me. I silently stood next to her for what felt like an hour as the service was really slow. I wanted to break the ice by saying something about the slow service but I didn't. I took my order, paid for it and left. That was failure #1.
I walked a short distance away from the hotdog stand and ate my sandwich underneath a small coconut tree where there were a lot of passing pedestrians (it was a street corner). As I stood there, there was another HB7 standing on the opposite side of the coconut tree that looked like she was waiting for someone. I thought of coming up to her and saying something to the effect of 'Hey, are you waiting for your friends too?' but again, I didn't. She was gone before I finished my sandwich. That was failure #2.
I turned my back on the street crossing to look towards the concert venue again, and I saw three gorgeous blonde-haired foreign girls taking pictures of each other in front of one of the nearby restaurants. They were taking turns holding the camera phone they were using, and I saw a chance right there to approach and offer to take a picture with all three of them in it. It took them about 10-15 minutes of switching places to get all of the pictures that they wanted, and I just looked on, unable to muster up the courage to walk up to the whoever was holding the camera phone at the moment and offer to help them get a decent picture. That was failure #3.
Failure #4 and #5 happened at a nearby Starbucks. I thought I'd go in and use the restroom in order to see if there were any attractive females inside. There were a lot! I was particularly attracted to one tall girl HB9 (well, she was as tall as I was compared to the other girls who were only up to about 5'4" or 5'6") who had a DSLR hanging around her neck. She was already waiting to get her order around that area where they call your name and give your coffee at Starbucks, and we made eye contact (multiple times) as I made my way to the line going towards the restroom.
When I made it to the line going towards the restroom, I stood next to an HB8. There were about 10 people in line, so I thought I'd open her with a question. Something along the lines of, "Does coffee really do this to people? Make them pee etc etc" but as you might have guessed, I didn't manage to approach AGAIN. My inability to open the girl in front of me as we waited to get to the restroom was compounded by the fact that the girl behind me (who was also quite attractive) was actually her friend. After about five minutes, they both left. Failure #4.
Failure #5 was that HB9 with the DSLR that I mentioned earlier. I was actually quite lucky to find her all by herself at the door when I exited Starbucks (she had just gotten her drink). Until now, I can't stop thinking about this girl and how I should have opener her with something about her camera.
Lastly, before heading home at around 11:30, I thought I'd walk around for a bit and feign being lost. I then found another girl who looked like she was lost for real. In fact, she was already talking to the guards. It turned out that she was actually looking for her friend (it was her friend who got lost). Well, I think you know what happened next. I kind of followed her around, never made a move to approach, she found her friend, and they left. After failure #6, I went home.
When I got home, I got together with some old friends, had a few drinks and still had a good time. Since it was new year, I had no intention at all of moping about and feeling sorry for myself. And now I'm sharing my experience here with you hoping for some good and honest feedback.
Last night was really an eye-opening experience for me. I've learned plenty of lessons and I plan to change things up the next time I go out. But perhaps you could comment on what I did wrong, what I could or should have done right, etc. so that I may be able to learn even more.
tl;dr I saw 6 different opportunities to approach and meet attractive women but I failed each one. I went home only with lessons, still hoping to learn more.
P.S. Happy new year, Seddit!
