First field report. A few questions at the bottom, advice would be hugely appreciated!
I'm on my second semester of my freshman year of college. When I used to visit my college town last summer and when I first started school I was all about cold approaching. I wasn't very good at it but I loved pushing out of my comfort zone to meet new people. However, after joining a fraternity and eventually building a solid social circle of girls that my friends and I knew, I slowly started to care about approaching girls I didn't know less and less. Things haven't been going too well for my sex life lately, so I finally decided to man the fuck up and start cold approaching again. I watched Brad Branson's "Becoming the Gorilla" Monday night and a lot of things clicked for me, specifically rapport-breaking tonality and it's affect not only on other people but also on my confidence and body language (I posted an extensive outline of it Monday night that I highly recommend reading).
Anyways, enter Tuesday night. I'm at one of the bars with a few friends drinking. My fraternity has a keg every Tuesday night so we drank for free. The night started out slow and we spent a while just sitting around. I had promised myself earlier that day that I would approach a random girl that night and try rapport-breaking tonality. That was my only goal. No pressure on anything else. As more people started filtering into the bar, I began to psyche myself out. I already knew most of the girls, and the ones that I didn't were already with groups of guys. After a while I decided I had gotten enough free alcohol and it was time to start my night where I wouldn't know a lot of people. I grabbed one of my friends and we headed out. On the way there I told him we were going to approach girls we didn't know together. He seemed nervous but I assured him that nothing bad could happen because we don't know the girls anyway and we never visit these bars. He agreed and seemed excited. We enter a bar and see two girls standing alone. Perfect. I point them out and he starts to talk his way out of it. I tell him I'll open it up, he just has to stand there and it'll all work out. I go up and introduce myself, then turn around and he's gone. Crap. My heart's pounding, but to my surprise, this new tonality really works. Although I was nervous, I felt incredibly confident and not at all like I'm seeking approval (a problem I have ALWAYS struggled with). Turns out the two girls were seniors in a sorority that I hang out with sometimes. I'm not really into older girls but I chatted them up. It was very casual and enjoyable. I got to know them, discussed a few mutual friends, and explained how I was tired of hanging out with the same girls and decided to be adventurous. After a minute or two I decided to move on so I said goodbye and continued through the bar. I find my friend talking to a group of girls that he already knew. I recognized one of the girls from my hometown and we started talking, and then she introduced me to her friend, who we'll call J. J was super cute. So cute, in fact, that I resolved as soon as I shook her hand that there was no way I would hook up with her. But reminding myself of my plan for the night, I decided to talk to her and test out being the "gorilla". Without the pressure of trying to hook up, I felt instantly comfortable just acting myself. So we started chatting and I just started joking around like I do with my friends. I told her immediately we were going to hate each other, which she found really funny. Cool, so she's into my sarcastic type of humor. This should be fun. We talked and joked around a lot, I maintained strong eye contact, stayed very confident, remained outcome independent, maintained a strong frame, used a decent amount of kino.. Honestly I was killing it with this girl and I was discovering very fast that she was actually really cool and totally my type. And I could tell that she was quickly discovering the same about me. We probably talked for two hours, although in that time span I occasionally turned around and talked to her friends, getting to know them all well and flirting with them a little here and there. On several occasions when J and I were talking one of her friends walked up and commented "oooh look how close you guys are" and at one point even qualified J to me. Things were going great and I was loving it. Later into the night a guy that I knew walked into the bar. I was talking to one of J's friends at the time and so she ran up and greeted him. He's a really good looking guy so I figured fuck, I'm totally outgamed here. They started dancing and I asked her friend "do you think I just lost my chance", but she promised me I was fine. I glanced over and watched him try to kiss her several times and get rejected every time. Her friend invited me to go eat with them, grabbed J, and we headed off. Late nighting was pretty uneventful. I had a great time with her and her friends and we all joked around a lot, and at this point I was positive she was interested in me. And just as I decided that I would try to take her back with me my phone died, and my ability to ask my roommate to leave before he fell asleep flew out the window. So we all get a ride back together, and when the guy drops us off, I turn to her and say "hey, I had a lot of fun. You should give me your number so we can hang out again" to which she replied "sure! We should hang out a lot!". So I take her phone and put in my number, joke around with her a little bit about how her phone is so ancient that maybe I don't even want her to have my number, and then we part ways. Sorry this is so long, but if you've made it this far thank you, I'm also finished. The next day I text her mid afternoon and make a joke. To my surprise she's just as cool over text as she is in person. I cut to the chase pretty quickly and say "I had a lot of fun last night. Are you going out Thursday?" She replies and says she did too, and she wants to but isn't sure if she can because she has a test and a paper. We keep on chatting for the rest of the day. I don't respond very frequently, maybe every hour or two, and we keep joking around. The last text she sends me is a little before one and it's referencing the same inside joke that I made when I first met her: "good thing we hate each other then." I reply around 1:30 with "You couldn't hate me" and never hear back. It's Thursday. I'm with my friends at the dining hall and after finishing dinner were walking out when I see her with one of her friends. I go up and say hey. They're studying for her test, we make small talk for a minute and then I say bye and walk away. I end up going downtown, and around 12:30 as I'm standing outside a bar I see her and her friend walk out. I hug them both and say hey. I ask her about her test and she makes a sarcastic joke "what test?". I'm a little upset that she didn't end up texting me that she was coming out but I decide to shake it off and invite her to the bar my friend and I are walking to. She replies that she's going to another bar, doesn't invite me to come along, and we part ways. Honestly, everything seems like it went really well until this last little hiccup. I wouldn't say that I have no chance anymore but at this point it definitely doesn't seem like she's terribly interested. I was thinking about just waiting until tomorrow night and then texting her and seeing if she was downtown but my friends advised against it. There are plenty of reasons that she might have not told me she was downtown (I mean we've only ever spent three hours together) but I can't shake the feeling that this is a bad sign.
I would hugely appreciate opinions, advice, anything.
TL;DR Met a really cool girl on my second cold approach. Maintained confidence, outcome independence, frame control, rapport-breaking tonality.. Hit it off really well with similar senses of humor, got her number, texted her the next day asking if she was going out Thursday. She said she wanted to but probably couldn't because of a test, then I ran into her downtown on Thursday. Thoughts?
EDIT: Sorry for the awful formatting, I typed this on my phone and I'm fairly new to actually posting as opposed to just browsing.
