I am 21 M and I usually have severe approach anxiety. So here's the story...

Tonight we were about to go out and supposedly there would have been for single girls in our group. Instead there was one I wasn't interested in.

I'll add some details to explain the state I was in. i felt pretty good about myself as some people I hadn't seen for months were in our group. In the meantime I cut my hair short and went for the clean shaven look. I also lost five kilos (and counting). They both told me I now look miles above compared to a few months ago. This got me in a very confident state.

I had my eye on a two set. Once one of them went to the bathroom I approached (the one at the table duh) she seemed kinda nervous and it was an awkward interaction.

I decided to somewhat persist when her friend came back. I asked her for a smoke but she only had those "lady" smokes. I learn she is in law school. She complains about needing to study too much.

I tell her that she must be very passionate about it, take a step back look at her and tell her it suits her since she had an air of sophistication about her. I tell her I'll be back after I grab a smoke from my group.

That's where I kinda chickened out. After 5 minutes my group wants to leave. That"s when I re-approach cigarette and jacket in hand. I tell her I gotta go but I'd love for us to hang out. She says she is kinda swamped and I say that's fine.

I ask after when it's good for her and we'll take it from there. She says next week so she gestures to put her number in my phone. I tell her I'll place a call so she knows my number.

Going out, adrenaline rushing it hits me like a two ton brick. We never learned each others names. The interaction nevertheless felt successful and smooth (both to me and a few people from my group).

I chose not to send her a text mentioning that but will do that tomorrow. Right or wrong call, it's done now. i'm going to sleep :)
