Tonight was my first time going out solo. Since 50% of the people in my area are out of town for easter/passover I wasn't expecting much. This was ideal because you were able to have a comfortable conversation with anyone you approached.

My advice for anyone going out solo is to not let it effect your mood/demeanor/body language. This could be hard because going out by yourself is not usually the social norm. It will catch some people off guard, as I learned tonight. However, surprisingly, you also become more approachable.

So included in the 50% of the people leaving town were my 3 roommates. When I go out I usually have one of them to hang with so if I get blown out I have someone to talk to comfortably. However, I figure I test my medal tonight and fly solo.

I got back from the gym around 8:30 left for the bar at 9. I sit down and I open to the girl sitting next to me. Her friends are really drunk, and she is buzzing, or so she says. I talk to her for a bit, find out she is a dancer from Miami. We are holding eye contact, I am holding her hand, she is playing with my fingers, it was a good time. She invites me to this party next weekend with her and some of her dance friends. I oblige and tell her to put her number in my phone. She does, and she goes on about her job.

She has this fishbowl drink in front of her that her friends were unable to split with her. So I tell her I will, we chug the drink. Next thing I know we are making out. Her friends are freaking out because this probably all happened within like 5 mins of conversation. Her and her friends leave for their friend's dance practice. I kiss her goodbye and she departs.

The bar is filling up, and more girls are coming in. So there is this two set that sits down next to me, and asks me what the specials are. I tell them there are none and they pout. I mock them a little bit, break the ice and we are having smooth conversation. Out of the corner of my eye I see one of my female co-workers and she runs over and shouts my name. I move over to her group she is with and give her a hug. I come back and some walrus stole my stool, and the two girls are nowhere to be found.

Since there was no additional seating and it wasn't the type of environment for me to just stand there till I find a group to open to I depart.

Overall it was a good experience to have. I would say to anyone that is by themselves for the weekend because all of their friends left for the holidays to not fear going out by yourself. Don't let it freak you out because it will show.
