So I go from having no FRs to 2 in one day. This one just happened this evening.

I volunteered recently at a black tie fundraiser downtown and managed to meet a lovely young lady from a high-end steak house (think Ruth's Chris or Morton's but just a local business). No numbers were exchanged (I was just feeling good that I was talking to and dancing with beautiful women throughout the night - I didn't number close anyone) but I decided to stop in tonight, have myself a nice dinner (I did a good weight session at the gym today and needed a large protein kick) and maybe I'd run into her. Didn't happen but the night turned out pretty good.

Upon arrival I introduced myself to the bartender and we started chatting. Most people are transplants down here and this guy was from NY (I'm from Boston) so we talked Red Sox/Yankees for a bit plus general chatter. Since I'm still in the 'talk to everyone' process I started talking to an older gentleman next to me who had a neat pair of spectacles. I complimented him on them and we talked for a bit - he's a retired architect. Now that I'm feeling good about talking to the people at the bar I start talking to the guy on the other side of me - just general talk about football, local happenings, etc. Now I'm no longer the guy staring at his food in silence, I'm the friendly guy just chatting with folks. At this point I had no expectations on PU - just improving my interpersonal communications.

Eventually, Mr Spectacles clears out and there's a wide expanse to my right which quickly gets filled by a 5-set - 3M, 2F. The cute (HB8) young girl sits right next to me. I'm in the middle of chatting with the bartender and giving him crap about not telling me about a particular special side dish (brussel sprouts with bacon) that was available (I'm already into my glass of scotch for dessert) and she starts looking over every now and then. A dish of sprouts gets delivered to me that was a freebie from the bartender and she and I start joking about it (funny dessert - where's the whipped cream - I can think of better uses for whipped cream - etc). I get a little kino in (just the occasional arm touch) and we talk for a bit. I ask how she knows the group she's with and she says they work with each other (I could sense there was no romantic relationship between her and the guys, but best to make sure).

It turns out she is moving to the area in a few months. We chat for a bit and I mention she looks a lot like Courtney Cox (but younger). She's heard that before but it leads us into guessing each other's age. I overshoot hers (I say 32 but she's 27) and she undershoots mine (37 vs the actual 44). She gives me the jokingly offended look and calls over the other female in the group to call me out. Now, this lady is clearly older than me but I throw out the casual "Courtney looks older than you and you can't be more than 29, 30 tops, so I figured 32 was a safe guess". I get a big hug from the older lady (Courtney's manager) and all is well. It's over the top enough that Courtney isn't offended.

My drink is done, they're closing out their tab to go grab a drink so I used what I learned from this group and just said, "hey, I've enjoyed talking with you, how do we get back in touch once you move down here?" She asks me to give her a card but I remind her that I'm not currently working so she gives me her card. Score on the number close.
