I've been out of the dating scene for almost 20 years and am just getting back into it after my divorce. Since I don't have a lot of single friends in my new city, I typically go out solo. Thus I have no experience with wingmen. A girl I made friends with (no romantic interest from me) has offered to be wing(wo)man for me from time to time. I'm not sure I like how she's doing it but I really don't know much about how a good wingman works.

What is over the top?

What is unhelpful?

When she (s)he step forward and get involved and when to step aside?

Any differences in how a wingman behaves vs a wingwoman?

Other tips?

I'd like to improve my wingwoman's performance and I'd also like to help out other guys as I start making more male friends, so all tips are appreciated.
