I suggest starting with Part 2.

Part 1 - Meeting her

Met with my friend to go to a meetup. He is trying to become a pick up / seduction artist and this meetup is pretty much to practice. My intention is only to help him and just hang out. Shortly after we sat a cute chinese girl sat essentially across / beside us. She was extremely shy, said it was the only meetup she's ever been to and was clearly foreign. I warmed her up, made a lot of jokes but was trying my best to pass it off to my friend. At one point they had a long conversation just the two of them and her nervous hand movements make it clear that she was liking him.

During the meetup there was an hour long seminar where no one spoke to each other so I spent the entire time trying to figure out what event we could take her to afterwards. She had mentioned that all her friends were away so she was coming to the meetup to meet new friends. I simply could not find another good event to go to. I texted my friend "we need to find a place to take this girl afterwards". I don't think my friend has ever turned a meet in to an insta date. I haven't either.

When the seminar was over he appeared to say good bye to her, got what appeared to be a high five. After this I basically just said to her come with us let's go do something else. She said ok!! Then I proceeded to tell her all the ideas I looked up and couldn't find. My friend suggested we go to a happy hour meetup that he was familiar with. Neither me or the girl like to drink and I assured her I wasn't going to drink either but we should go and she got in to it.

We stood outside and shortly we got in to an uber. I'm not 100% sure if she was cool just getting in a car with us but my friend did the right thing of not even mentioning and just opening the door for us to get in. She sat in the middle and this is when we got a lot of pressed up kino with each other. I think I was all over her but I think he was keeping a slight space. We had a lot of good chat in the car but she went in and out of nervousness once or twice. When I talked about some things she really really was interested in though she got right back.

The happy hour meetup was kind of a disaster and I wished we had something else to do but I made sure to keep it that we three were friends coming there together and were not there to continue meeting new people, only to hang out with each other. My friend screwed up introducing us / him as not "knowing her". I continually corrected this as no we all know each other, we are friends. The guy running the event who was talking to us literally thought me and girl were a couple so there was clearly chemistry.

Here the chemistry fell out for my friend. She was really in to me, sometimes ignoring him. Later attacked him, brushed him off some, but also went back to him many times. I was just trying to keep a dynamic but me and her were clicking pretty heavy. about 2/3rds in it was obvious she made her choice, I could not salvage this to pass.

My friend had an awesome idea to go to a intro to salsa class. I told her this was an awesome idea lets go and I convinced her to go (pretty simple). There probably couldn't be a better first date kind of thing to go to than having your hands all over each other in a intro salsa class. When we got there though we were denied entry because she didn't have her passport or a USA issued id card.

This is where she essentially decided to boot my friend, time to take a cab with just me and go to my place. She never let my friend know this though so when the uber came she really didn't like that he was getting in the uber too. I said my place is on the way to his place. I wasn't really liking that she wanted me to ditch my friend so I was essentially like it's cool he's coming with us.

Part 2 - Me and her

We arrived. Was taking her from my place (we never went to it). She just sent my friend off, my friend was all fucked up but he left, that was terrible. She had wanted to ditch my friend to just go to my place, it was like crazy obvious she wanted to go home with me. While we were walking we were nearly pressed up against each other's shoulder's the entire time. Also in the car we were right up against each other, we were virtually a couple. "Getting rid of my friend" was a slightly taxing task, it brought us out our element fairly significantly. We still had like 5 hours running for us though so that was ok but the technical last 5-10 minutes were not where we wanted to be.

We were walking, just talking random again. It seemed like were walking past where I worked and I noticed that I still had my badge and could take her up in to my building if she was interested. I managed to say something that impressed her so I think I got back on track for getting her interested (in me). Still I was pretty low on stuff to talk about so I couldn't keep the high energy / up beat / subliminally attraction building topics up really anymore. It was pretty average platonic topics with my best up spin. At one point she said your building!? as if she would say no, then I said no... we already passed my building, this is my work building, then she said oh ok cool.

Everything was fairly cool when we were getting to the building, I knew some more escalation was needed for what we needed but all I could do was just continue walking pressed up against each other. We got in the building and went up for the view. When she saw the view she was obviously over the top in to it. It was also obvious she was a little nervous like me about what she knew was going to happen, we were going to make out. I went up to her real close to the window and we talked some stuff. I knew this is where the escalation had to basically go straight up, either break to or ramp. Before we extended ourselves not doing anything but looking out the window I suggested if she wanted to see the view from the room right beside us.

It would be the same view so I figured this was a completely obvious question that was do you want to be some where private with me? She said yes and I essentially confirmed with body language that we are going in to a private room, not to see the view, and she confirmed. After going in the room I also slowly closed the door to continue to confirm and she was cool Then she went to the window to check out the view. I kind of hung out near the chairs, had three spots in mind to make out. Either in the chairs, right where I was standing or standing somewhere near the door. I wanted any kind of escalation, hand holding, bodies against or anything before just asking but it really wasn't open to do that so I just asked "you want to make out?" and she said "oh no" and got in a small scramble to leave.

Every move she made was a double back to see if it was ok, like was it ok that I just said no? should we go back and say yes? how do we do that? Please lead me to how we fix this, I'm telling you we should go now but I want you to change this. And I basically kept asking are you sure? You don't want to? Really? More than I knew that asking these kinds of questions blew it, I knew that even if we really wanted to do it there was nothing we could do to convert this situation back in to making out. So I kept asking, you don't feel like you want to? You weren't feeling like we could? Then she walked in the elevator against herself and I stood in the door way puppy dog faced. She was trying to play out a typical train wreck "no man" and I was reminding her that we actually had a connection. In the elevator itself I knew there was still technically a possibility we could make it happen, it was still felt that we could just start on the way down but I pretty much didn't have anything to say for the ride.

At the bottom we signed out and left, we were walking as if we were still kind of a couple, a kind of as if nothing had happened and we were still on track for being a couple. Outside I think I asked if she wanted to sit somewhere and she said no. At some point she started telling me she was sorry if she gave the wrong impression. I knew every one of these lines were not true and just felt why are you playing this out with me it's not true, why aren't we making out. But I knew this was the most epic failure i have ever lived through and I needed to ask the questions that best helped me understand why it happened, how she really felt etc so I kept asking did you not feel the same? You didn't feel like could? I mean the whole night, leaving my friend etc, you didn't want to do this too? and she kept lieing. at one point I said you know you can tell the truth and I was plainly honest, it's ok.

she actually kept walking with me, she started walking me back to my place even though it was in the exact opposite direction as her place. eventually I asked her (slightly heart broken) essentially, (but...) why are you walking me home? isn't your place in the other direction? This was the one question she didn't just lie for, she scrambled for an answer then said oh I am only taking you half way because that point is more normal for how I normally get home.

When we got to that half point we stood. I think I still tried once to see if she was interested and she said no. She proceeded to invite me to meet up again though. She really wanted to meet up again. I think maybe she really really really badly wanted this to play out differently and this was apart of that playing out how she wanted but I said sure ok! but I really wasn't in to it. I wasn't going to get her number, I didn't want to know the details of this event. And this was where she was clearly bummed, this whole barreling mess was not going in to tomorrow, it was not us meeting up again, it was not us being friends later (we are friends). it was a whole night of us making an awesome connection, having everything laid out and then blowing it right at the end. and then us crushingly trying to put it back together the way we cluelessly knew how.

I tried to hug her not because I thought she would but because I needed a hug help me with this disaster but she recoiled back and I knew, based off of just 40 minutes ago how far this has gone to something I would have never expected, this was real. She said instead hand shake and I almost didn't do it because I couldn't hand shake her, that's not who she was to me. but I did and she essentially retorted her offer to hang out and just now that hopefully we'll see each other around, and that we'll probably see each other around because we go to the same college. I said ya we'll see each other around, good bye.
