THANK YOU SEDDIT. Tonight, I had my first hook-up since my breakup with my girlfriend over two months ago. I went to a DJ show with some of my friends (we drank in the car), and I went with the intention of having an awesome time, and hoping everything else sorted itself out. Once we got there, my friend said to me, "Hook up with at least one girl tonight," and I told him I'd do my best.

(An aside here: I understand that a sweaty mess of drunk people is different from the "classic" pick-up situation, but I feel like the visceral nature of it sort of brings out the most primal aspects of PUA.)

Basically, after dancing with various girls for most of the first part of the show (and grinding with one for a little while, a nice enough confidence booster), at the intermission a HB7 starts talking to me and my friend about how she knows one of the DJs or something. My friend leaves to go to the bathroom, so it's just us two. I was about to retreat into my old, awkward ways and just part ways, but I decided to be a man and talk to her.

So I talked. To be honest, it felt like rambling, but I was just saying what was on my mind and we had a great conversation. So that was that. Then, as the music starts, I started dancing behind her to gauge the situation, and when I saw she was moving closer, I manned up and put my hands on her sides, and started grinding full force. She got into it. Schwing.

Next thing I know, she's reaching back to touch my face and I was a bit like "what's going on here?" Then, Seddit-mode kicked in and I realized she wanted me to kiss her. So I kissed her, and it was my first k-close...ever, really. Everything clicked.

We made out for a little while, then I got around to asking her name. It was hard to spell, so she just gave me her phone without saying anything, opened to a "new contact" page. (I recall this being a pick-up tip, which made it all the more awesome that it was being used on me.)

Honestly, there isn't much more to tell besides the fact that we grinded and made out for most of the night. I did, however, run back to kiss her before I left, which I felt was a very leading man thing to do (I don't know, I was still a bit drunk.)

So to sum up, what I learned from Seddit is to assume attraction. I assumed she wanted me, and started dancing accordingly. Turns out I was right. I never ever would have been this bold if I hadn't had the guidance of this community. I know it won't always be this easy, but this is my first hook-up not with my ex-girlfriend. It's an important step to me moving on, and becoming really good with women, and people in general.
