Today I decided to go to express while on my break from work. I'm not sure what prompted me to go but I'm glad I did. As soon as I walk in one of the girls greeted me with the typical line "welcome to blah blah..." She seemed a little bit shy as she was saying it and this triggered something in me. I felt like I could take control of the conversation and instantly went into alpha mode. It must have been some subconscious body language/tonality reading I had going on.

Anyway I ask her about a shirt I had seen while I was in another express a while ago. She had no idea what I was talking about but suggested some similar shirts. While looking at them I found the one I had in mind and asked if I could try one on. The shirt was too big so I asked her to get me a medium; this time it fits. I told her thanks for the help and that I'm going to keep looking around. About 3 minutes later she passes by and asks if there is anything in specific I'm looking for. I asked about button down t-shirts which she began looking for one (adding to my theory that she is new/shy) and I stumbled across one and asked her about it. I told her I was looking for something to wear to the bar/club and she had some other suggestions as well.

This is where I started getting my game on. She showed me some other shirts and some polos I wasn't really interested in. As she showed me one of the polos she said "this is a nice one, maybe not for the club but definitely for a going to a bar." I responded "thats good for me because I'm not really a club guy anyway." she followed up with "oh so your more of a bar kinda guy?" I told her how I worked at a club for 5 years and I got my fill in and she laughed a little. Then I said something like I prefer bars or at least I think I do so far since I only just turned 21. She responded somewhat excitedly "Oh you just turned 21! me too!" She then asked me how long ago etc. We conversed for another minute or two about stuff in the store and I asked what the hours were tomorrow and if she was working; sadly she isn't. I said "lucky you" and "thank you" as I had to be back from my break. All in all it could have gone slightly better in that I could have gone for a # close but I felt confident leaving with her name and age and the foundation for future conversation which could lead to something more.

TL;DR I built some good rapport with a HB7 sales associate, got her age and name, and felt like boss doing it
