Myself and a friend went sarging. He's out of state so I do my own thing. I go to my favorite bar and chat up a new group, including a cool male and two girls. I mostly ignore the better-looking one as she's already getting lots of attention, but include her in the conversation incidentally. Light introductory kino, fun conversation with the dude, and a couple fun openers on the girls that result in polite but uninteresting conversation. It turns out my new male friend is dating the cuter one, which is fine.

Important part here: Girl I was targetting holds up her phone (which I had taken from her earlier, without asking, to show my sarging buddy a picture they were looking at. She snatched it back, which was funny for me but might have been a sign she was creeped out) and asks me to take a picture of her and the cuter one. Her exact words were "Hey, will you take our picture? We're so pretty!" I laughed, pretended not to understand, turned my back and walked off. She wasn't holding it up aggressively, and I didn't play her along like the glam rocker in the article, so my finesse needs some work.

When I went back to the table to talk to them again, she showed a significant amount of new interest. Instead of polite response, I got asked for my opinion. She initiated physical contact (very lightly, nothing I would consider a strong IOI.) It worked, though not as well as it could have.

Try it, it's empowering. Also, waitress I had kino'd in this submission (http://www.reddit.com/r/seduction/comments/ldz4x/baby_steps/) initiated a conversation with me and dropped IOI's, and I got a hug. We have never talked before.
