Rolled solo to Bungalow just now. I haven’t been out solo in like...well, maybe ever. So my goals were modest. I figured if I actually did a couple approaches, that was enough. It went better than my expectations, so that was good, given my recent issues.

All of the sets I approached were two sets.

The first was on the Main Platform (MP). They were dressed up as if going to a formal function of some kind, so I opened by noting this. One was open to conversing, one wasn’t. The more open one became less open as the convo dragged on. I stretched it for some time, then cheers’d them and left.

Maybe I could have tried to get the less interested friend engaged? I cracked some funny jokes though (well, I thought they were funny, and the open one thought they were okay). I think this was a case of the girls just not having the same personality. I wasn’t significantly different (though I was better warmed up) with the next 3 sets, but they all went better.

The next three were on the Back Patio (BP) in rapid succession. First were these step-sisters, both blonde, one tall, and one short. The short one looked like a kind of Chuckie Doll version of Nicole Kidman. She was cute though, my description belies this fact.

I opened with something like “hey, how are you guys, is one of you visiting?”. I forgot what they said, but they thought I was very direct. I did a bit of kino on the short one, said she was abrasive, and also said she looked like “a mean Rene Zellweger” (it was only in retrospect that I realized Nicole Kidman was who I was thinking of). She told me she could be abrasive, but not mean, unless someone warranted it. I said tell me the requirements, I want to hit every single one. Most of the convo was pretty boring. They had their own agenda to bar hop their way back to DTLA (and the tall one was driving, so this seemed questionable), so they left shortly thereafter.

I lit a cigarette, and then opened another two. I made a comment about one of their dresses. She tried to pretend like she was the mom and the other was her daughter. I didn’t fall for that one. I told them to just lie to me, and asked where they were from. They couldn’t produce an answer and had to laugh at themselves. I told them I’d make up a story about myself and I did a bit of lying and made a joke about trafficked humans. The alleged daughter liked me, but the alleged mom wasn’t super into it. I feel like I could have made headway with the “daughter” if someone else was there to distract the “mom”.

The “mom” thought she saw someone she knew from high school and got super distracted by this and after a couple attempts drew her sister (their actual relationship) into that bullshit, at which point…

I opened a two set of not-hot LA Persian girls based off a comment one of them made. Made them guess my ethnic background, demonstrated a small grasp of Farsi. Bantered a bit. The cuter one did seem to at least think I was funny. Did some light kino. Anyways, they were generally friendly. They also called me direct and blunt a couple times. They were in reaction to me most of the time. When the cuter one was at the bar, I made a couple comments that made her laugh, including asking someone nearby to excuse her because she wasn’t from here. Lulz.

But they went away too.

Going out alone felt good. A small win, makes me feel more mature and centered. I also think just approaching girls as a lone dude simultaneously gives them a little more respect for you and gives them a certain degree of sympathy for you as well. I know a lot of guys advocate, when out with other dudes, just one guy approaching a set, and the others not joining until it hooks. I don’t know about being militant about that rule (since a lot of times girls are just nearby and you kind of merge your group in), but it is something me and the guys I roll with could do more.

The vibe I got from every set, no matter how much they were feeling it or not, was that they acknowledged I was a confident dude. Of course, this could have been because I definitely had a little more oomph, since my recent incident, which I think I finally have in good perspective, was a huge kick in the ass and has caused me to double down on this stuff, etc. And also because after experiencing a certain degree of “oh I actually like this girl” and getting a lot of interest back, it’s like I have a higher bar of how emotionally compelling a set can be and what “good” means. So most sets now to me are just practice for the next time I vibe with a girl like that, and are just generally boring and require spicing up. I am less afraid to lose them, and I believe this came across in my tone and the stuff I said. Thumbs up.
