After a particularly upsetting breakup from a LTR, I decided enough moping around, it's time to get back out there.

I'm standing at a bar, waiting to order drinks for my friends. There's a mixed group of people to my left who order a big round of shots. When the shots show up they're in these ridiculously gaudy, gold and silver patterned, stemmed glassware like an aperitif or something.

There was a girl immediately next to me, I leaned over and said something like "Those are the, uh... 'fanciest' shots I've ever seen. Something classy, like well Whiskey I hope?"

She turned, I hadn't gotten a good look at her till now but she was actually quite attractive. "Haha noooo! That's gross, this is tequila!"

"Tequila? Now THAT is gross."

I noticed now she was with 3 other girls, all equally attractive, and also with 2 obviously gay guys.

"No YOU'RE gross. (She smiled and was clearly kidding) How old are you? You look young."

"How old am I? How old are you?"

"No no, I asked you first."

"A lady never tells."

"Oh come on, are you even old enough to be here? Let me see your fake ID"

"Don't you want to know something more relevant? Like, you know, my name?"

"Ok fine, what's your name?"

"24"

"...what?"

"I'm 24."

"Haha, nice to meet you 24, I'm Emma."

"No, I'm 24 years old."

"Well I know that, so what's your name?"

At this point she already had her hand on my arm and was giving me that face down, eyes up look. I gave her my name and she only had time to start asking another question before one of her gay friends came over.

"Hey! I want you to meet FederalKangaroo" "Great, nice to meet you. Come on honey, let's go dance."

...and he dragged her to the dance floor in the adjacent room. On her way she was looking back and said "It was nice meeting you, FederalKangaroo! See you later!"

I quite certainly could have taken this further, but I'm not fully back into it still, I felt a little rusty and was just happy with the conversation.

Hopefully I'll give it another go this weekend, maybe whole-heartedly this time.
