I'm pretty new to the seduction community and while I've done more lurking than anything, I've been trying to apply the things that I've learned on here to my life. Over New Years I met a girl, talked with her (maintain eye contact, smile, pay attention to anchor points), and #closed. We'd been texting/Skyping with each other over the last week getting to know each other.

I liked her and I still do, but I didn't think that I would want to seriously date her. She, however, was really into me and had the full intent of dating me for the long term, even though we hadn't known each other for even two weeks. This is where I really screwed up.

She came down to visit me on campus and we had a great time together, but the whole while I knew that by the end of the day I would have to sit down with this girl and tell her that I didn't have much of an interest in dating her long term. In my mind I had hoped to show her a good time, tell her I didn't want to be involved in anything too serious, and we'd both be on our way, no harm done.

I told her and she broke down in tears. Apparently she had been going through a rough patch of crappy guys and thought that I was the answer to all of her problems. She thought that I had felt the same way about her and that we would eventually begin dating each other for the long term. I told her that was never my intent and that I had just wanted to get to know her better before I came to my final decision.

While she may have been a little clingy for only knowing me for such a short time, I was never truly clear with my intentions. Whenever she showed affection or told me that she really liked me, I reciprocated by doing the same thing. Instead of being upfront and telling her that I wasn't looking for a serious relationship right now, I inadvertently lead her on and really hurt her.

I like to live be the rule of 'leave everyone better than when you found them'. I broke that rule today and it was simply because I wasn't clear enough with my intentions. The seduction community puts most of its emphasis on attracting girls and making them want you (and rightly so), but there isn't a whole lot of attention paid to telling a girl you don't want anything serious. I really screwed up and hurt this girl because all I was thinking of was how to make her want me more instead of how to make her happy. I don't want anyone else to make the same mistakes that I did. There are some truly wonderful girls out there, but they just might not be the one for you. It is up to you to tell them that right away. Don't lead them on, even accidentally. If you don't want to seriously date a girl, then tell her that. I feel awful for what I did and I know that no amount of apologizing will fix what I did wrong. I enjoy playing the game, but it's no fun when someone gets hurt.

TL:DR Be completely upfront about your intentions. If you want to date a girl, tell her. If not, tell her. It will only lead to someone getting hurt down the road if you don't make your intentions perfectly clear.
