INTRO
Hey everyone, I'm a long time lurker of seddit who finally decided to post a FR even if it's less than spectacular. As a quick background, I'm a 22-yo, 6'4" engineering major in his last year of college. I broke up with my first major gf around three months ago due to her religious conviction (no pre-martial sex and the like), so I'm working on being alpha. This took place last weekend, but I'm just getting around to writing it up. It's kinda two FR's, so I hope everyone figures it out.
All of this started, more or less, because my older brother wanted to drive 3 hours to hang out for the weekend.
Dancing [FR#1]
My night started strangely enough at some Swing dance lessons offered on my campus. I've always loved dancing, so I figure I might as well try and meet some women out of it. I head over to the dance studio and end up meeting several very cute girls. One of the girls was a definite HB8.5 in my mind; however, I was too beta at first to approach her when we took dance partners. Oh well, we rotated anyway. Through the rest of the lesson (1 hours), I ended up dancing with her and her HB7 friend, and I feel like I hit it off pretty well. It probably helps that they're younger (19) and outgoing themselves. I didn't pursue a #-close or anything with them, even though I talked their ears off; however, I plan on continuing the swing dance lessons, so I haven't given up yet. Towards the end of the lesson, HB8.5 has her bf show up, so I feel like that venue is closed. HB7, here I come.
I went out after dancing with my brother and friends. We hit up a pretty chill Irish pub. I was conflicted here because the only booth we could fit in was in the farthest corner. I'm alpha at times, yet so beta at others. There was a lot of women around, but I can't get it in my head to approach. Damn you, AA! I need to adopt the "I don't give a fuck" mentality sooner than later. After sitting around in the booth BS'ing with my brother and company, the fact that the waitress never came by started to annoy me. I got up to head over to the bar, and the waitress stopped me from a nearby table saying she was on her way. Whatever, I guess I'll wait. She eventually comes over and takes a seat next to me. She's all apologetic about the delay. So I throw my arm around her like we're old buddies saying, "Sure, whatever. I want a whiskey ginger." She takes our order and disappears again. Nevertheless, I put my around a solid HB8, so I'm feeling pretty smug. Nothing much else happens since I still feel so beta about cold approaches. If I get an introduction to someone, I'm gold (duh). I can talk the shit like the best of them, but I still hate "strangers." I guess they're strangers because I let them be though. Since most of my friends are pretty 'beta' for the most part, do I just need to excuse myself and get out there and start opening sets even when I'm with friends?
B Ball [FR#2]
I went to my college's basketball game with my brother since we were playing our bitter rivals. We lost (sad), but it still helped prep me the evening. Being around people energizes me! Sure, talking to them can be a challenge--read: AA--but people get me pumped. After a bitter loss (20 pts), we head downtown around 9pm.
At this point, it's pretty much dead. I bullshit with the bartender and order my drinks. Eventually some friends show up, 3 or 4 drinks in. I'm feeling good at this point. Before most of this drinking, I noticed a girl to the left of me with her bf. She's a good HB7.5, and I told myself to open her, but I beta'd out due to the bf. This is no excuse. I should've opened them both! As the bar started to fill up, the only space to reach the bar was between her and I. This opened up some fun dialogue where we joked that we should start charging people to reach the bar like it's a toll booth. She laughed and seemed to enjoy the banter; however, I felt like the presence of her bf pretty much limited any further hope, so I ejected. Soon after, more friends showed up so we were all clustered around the bar. By this point, the DJ's finally started up some tunes. I love music you can dance too, but I seem to lack the alpha-state of grabbing a women and dancing with her--I need to work on this! I was practically dancing in place around the bar, but I was unable to get myself to just approach. At one point, a 2-set of HB7's were standing close behind me. They were talking and sorta dancing in place away from the dance floor. My alpha-mind said I should go over, say let's hit the dance floor, and go. Sadly, the beta-mind won out. Lame. Note to self: I need to approach women, no matter what. All of my friends were noticing my dancing and said I should approach that HB8 over there or another HB6, yet I just feel like they were messing with me because they thought I was drunk (I wasn't).
Around midnight, we eject to another venue where it is a hell of a lot more chill. This bar is more for playing pool and hiding in the cubbies where there are couches and other plush chairs. I was pretty resigned by this point--tired--but I was still having fun. I ran into some classmates (kino'd) and later some co-workers (kino'd), so I still feel good about everything. We were all in the comedown phase, so we all lounged and chilled. Around 1am, we eject and head home since my brother (who was staying with me) had to head home early the next day.
My Thoughts
Overall, I had a great time. After reading TofuTofu's FR's long enough (I'm a big fan since they show me what is possible with PU), I realize that having a fun time is of utmost importance. He seems to stress the importance of state, and my experience seems to agree with that. It's all about your state! I feel like if I work on my state then I can do even more amazing things.
My friends seem to offer an interesting situation. They're still AFC's at heart--they need to be enlightened! I feel higher energy when I'm around actual bar in the midst of all the chaos. I hate booths because I feel like they isolate and distance us from the action. I guess if I want to seriously sarge then I need to realize this and get to the bar. My friends have a tendency to call every stereotypical college guy a 'bro,' and they want to stay away from the bros. I guess I should pursue solo sarging or find a good wing?
I love dancing, and I can easily dance sober (unlike people). I need to work on my approaches (no shit!) but especially with regards to dancing. It seems like you just need to grab the girl's hand and head to the dance floor (alpha), but I can't do it yet. Is it truly as simple as that?
Summarized (tl;dr?)
- Keep a high energy state! It makes for a great evening and for greater conversations/interactions.
- Think about who you're bringing out. Some people can make it hard to sarge or think about sarging.
- Work on approaching (getting) girls to dance
I'd love to hear what people have to say. I'm open for feedback, suggestions, criticisms, so fire away!
