Generally I just try and be a better partner in every facet of being a partner than her ex was. It's very hard for them to go back to their ex when you are better than them in every regard.

Well, there are multiple layers to this.

First, you have to make her feel free. The more you try to be extra nice and make sure she doesn’t go back to her ex, the more likely she will. The more you chase her, the more she will run away. Show her love when she initiates and wants your attention.

Second, if she has known her ex for longer, then you have to understand she is more likely to want to go back. This makes sense hopefully to you. You can’t control this.

Lastly, you can’t control anything. You have to understand she is only a part of your life, she is not your whole life. You have to enjoy your life and follow your goals. That’s what attracts women. To keep her, you have to meet her physical and emotional needs. You need to have the mindset that you absolutely love her being part of your life as a cherry on the awesome cake your life already is. But you will be totally fine without it (People call it not being needy)

Finding someone who doesn't have an ex. Girls with lots of relationships bring a big baggage of relationship along with them.
