The normal scenario in day game is that you both exchange numbers and you contact her. Do what feels natural. Just giving her your number is less invasive, and fits better in some situations.
Some guys dont get her number to sort out women, who are not interested. IMHO that is a bad strategy: Some women will not call you although they are interested: a lot of feminine women want the man to lead. And just because she contacts you doesn't mean she is super interested, she can just do it for attention.
Why would you shift power and responsibility to her, by not talking her number?

Giving her your number has a high flake chance. Girls don’t chase in the beginning thus their care level is low. Also they can be scared of engaging contact. It’s just not what girls do. This means there’s a high chance of never hearing from her again. Don’t understand how the ‘give her your number’ advices are upvoted. It’s rubbish. You do you but I wouldn’t give a girl my number unless there’s a real special occasion.

If she dosnt ask your number don't bother thinking about it. Most of the time in my experiance if we had good time she will say something like we should go somwere together or she will give her ig. Metaphorically speaking, thing is that you are looking for car to buy and she is trying to sell you a car. So she will make an effort to sell you a car. If not someone will. Everyone is trying something with her and you are firs guy who is like I like you but you also have to make an effort to make this work. Sorry for my bad englis hahah

But while cold approach I don't think its possible that girl will ask you your number unless you are extremely hot. We need to show some interest in her but people are suggesting that rather asking give her your number so that she won't feel pressurised .

Cold approach as in day game? Anyway am just good at night game, never tried day game if you dont count highschool or work. Use KINO metod, be average looking and act as she is some random person. Toching shows your intrest more than your words. Point of interaction is to make her feel your vibe and connect if she is okey for you.

Giving her your number < Getting her number < Putting your number into her phone and texting yourself
You'd want to seed the idea of a future date with her and then if she's enthusiastic about it all you need to say is "Cool, here give me your phone so I can put my number in"
