Tldr: What do you guys think about going out and meeting girls on a friday?

Not a good idea? I'm at a new city, so not much to do for me, but I'm afraid to go out and get numbers today because it's Friday, in which case a lot of people will already have plans, be busy with their social events and see me as lame, trying to make friends randomly on the streets/malls (I don't like clubs/bars)

It's also generally not advised to ask for dates on Friday? Not sure what's with that, but I fear that that may add to the reason why I shouldn't.

After typing this, I realized I'm not clear whether I'm asking a question or asking for support. I guess I want to hear your stories of you on any of the following: 1. Going out on Fridays 2. New to the city 3. Feeling like a pussy but going out and DOING IT
