Going to a square dance tomorrow night. Any advice?

Good for you man, just go and test it out, if you enjoy it than great you have a new hobby. I went to salsa with the intention of meeting girls but I didn't enjoy the dancing part so I stopped going. Same with beginner yoga - too easy so I just do it at home on tv now. Sure, it's two less outlets to meet women but if you're not passionate about something don't waste your time.

Don't step on anybody's feet. JK. If you don't know how to square dance, you can ask some girls to give you some tips. Don't do it like you're trying to break the ice. Literally ask them if they show you some moves. When you're good at it (I don't think square dancing takes a lot to learn, but every dance has it's best dancers in them), you can be more comfortable on the dancefloor, which may give you the confidence to dance with any girl you want without thinking about.

You can even ask the (DJ?) if you can do the "Swing your partner 'round and 'round part" for a little bit. This will show the girls that you have balls.

OMFG they still have square dancing? My elementary school gym teacher was a big fan, we had to square dance at least once a week, for YEARS. I don't want to admit how long ago that was. Come to think of it, those childhood traumas probably formed my lifelong aversion to dancing.

Do you know how to square dance? If not:

Watch these youtube videos to learn the basic moves before the dance.
Listen to the caller. ALWAYS listen.
Try to get in a square with at least one couple that knows how to square dance.
Make sure the most skilled dancers are designated couple #1. Try to avoid being #1 unless you are the best dancer (which is likely, if you watch those videos).

They will probably have everyone learn the basic moves by demonstrating them. Then they will run through a routine step by step. Then you dance to the music with the caller directing the moves.

The whole point of square dancing is to put people together and mix it up. There will probably be more girls willing to dance than guys. If you know those moves from the videos, you will have plenty of women who want to dance with you. Just say, "hey let me show you my moves." Even if your moves suck, do that and you'll be great.

Don't try to break up any marriages if they've lasted over 30 yrs, otherwise go for it!!!

But actually age group is old but that gives you an automatic reason to talk to every young person. Don't need an opener just chat with everyone your age
