Hi seddit, so long story short I've been working hard the last few months to follow this sub's advice and pull myself out of the loveless rut that's been my life since, well, forever. I've hit the gym, been experimenting with fashion, and got a haircut from a place that's not Great Clips. In that time, I've been working on approaches and making conversation and have made significant headway, slowly tapping into the charming, talkative person I've always wanted to be. I just moved to a new city, and have enjoyed the fact that my reputation hasn't followed me. I'm not where I want to be, but I'm so much farther than I thought I could be already.

So far so good, right? But I've hit a huge mental roadblock. It is almost impossible for me to bring myself to express sexual interest in a girl, in any form. Flirtatious language, touching, building sexual tension... I can't do it. Not necessarily because I'm bad at it, although I'm sure I am. It just feels like there's a "wall" between myself and the girl, and I can't breach it to indicate sexual interest. As a result, I can be funny, interesting... and totally neutered.

To make it worse, I have practically no experience with dating or sex; I've had sex exactly three times in my life (I'm 24), all three before I stared seriously working on self-improvement. All three times were anxious, unsexy experiences where I was too much in my own head and trying to perform to have a good time. I couldn't even get it up the first time, and just about died of shame. Relationship? Forget it. I was the creepy guy who stared too long at girls and had little to no concept of the vibe I gave off. I've talked this shit out with a therapist but in the end talking about something like this will only get you so far.

So what should I do? I guess I already know: I'm going to have to take that plunge and accept the fact that I'm going to do it terribly, embarrass myself, and then do it again. The way I see it, the issues that I've confronted so far, while hard, can only make you seem like a better person: you get in shape, you look better. Get well-fitting clothes, you look better. Be a good conversationalist, you're more interesting. There's really nothing to lose. But I'm still struggling with accepting that not everyone has to like me, and that some girls will think I'm creepy no matter what I do. So what do you think, seddit? Any advice on getting past this roadblock?
