I have good news and bad news. The bad news is there are no real shortcuts. Unlike interacting with fixed systems that follow explicit rules, your partner in crime is another individual and very fallible human. Between the two of you, there is no communication you cannot misunderstand. The good news is that the best possible time to start learning how to communicate effectively with others is right now, and start up costs are low.

Start talking to others. That's all. If you were to ask me if reading my entire submission history on the subject of dating or talking to an old lady for half an hour about anything but dating was more valuable to becoming good at dating, I'd choose the half hour chat.
