Firstly, sorry about the breakup, shit sucks. I'm also 29M and I would not recommend Tinder or bumble for a few months if at all. I met my last ex on tinder, dated for 10 months and called it quits, then casually used it. I'm in a solid relationship now and we met through a mutual friend. Point is I think taking some time to re-establish your core network and rediscover who you are is more important than looking for a hookup. Best of luck.

Hey man, sorry for the breakup. You’re right, that’s life and you have to deal with it, great mental approach btw.

I would stay away from any serious “game” at the moment(especially Tinder). From personal experience, the early rejections you get in game , can really knock down your confidence if you’re just coming out such a long relationship. I myself have been through this and got frustrated about jumping right back into “game” without taking some time for rebuilding myself after the breakup.

The best thing you can do for yourself now is to build an amazing social circle of both guys and girls, especially as you said you’re shy. Go join an MMA gym, charity/volunteering, art societies, wine tasting, you name it. These opportunities will help you “put yourself out there”, and get out of your breakup and shyness shell. Another great boost in social skills is inviting new people you meet for events you organise: dinner parties, poker nights, trivia nights, you name it. This will give you the opportunity to present yourself as a leader.

In the end, “getting girls is a side effect of having an amazing life and social circle” (Manson, 2005). You have a blank slate in front of you, so appreciate the ability to do whatever you wish with your time.

Tinder works best when you’ve got decent looks. You’re better off knowing how to talk to women in person.

Go to places you already hang out at. My favorite place is a coffee shop; they literally come to you. All you have to do is open your mouth if they sit next to you. You can do this by this making an observation on what she’s doing or how she might be feeling.

“You look really intense” with a playful tone is my typical opener.
