My new retail job has a hard rule that we need to actively greet and help customers nearby, generally to improve our customer service and staff availability ratings.

I'm rather new to this scene, so I can imagine it helping me get a bit of confidence approaching and eventually a few shots hitting on girls. So my question is - how can I keep it subtle and avoid a bad rep (especially if I'm terrible at it)?

A reputation getting numbers would be hilarious, but a reputation annoying customers would probably get me fired!
