How can I read body language?

Psychology undergrad who wants to research body language for a living. I would say the best places to start are Joe Navarro's What Every Body is Saying and Paul Ekman's Emotions Revealed, and maybe Ekman's Unmasking the Face if you want a bit more of a historical look at his work.

Some people say that body language isn't important, but I completely disagree. Body language and other forms of nonverbal communication are key to positive social interactions. Recall all the times that an email was misunderstood because of the lack of vocal inflection or a wry grin. Nonverbal communication carries huge amounts of information, and the proper understanding of how it functions is a massive boon to anybody with the knowledge.

As for practice, I like to people watch and explain the different meanings given off by body language. Practice makes perfect.

By practicing! You don't just flip a switch and suddenly know how to gauge a woman's emotions by looking at her body language, it takes time and effort. Study body language online and go put in work by chatting up all the girls you want. They say eyes are a window into a person's soul.

Just do it.

As you get less nervous you'll put less focus on yourself. When you're more aware (less anxious, worried about yourself) body language becomes obvious.

When you get better, eyes. Eyes tell everything . But balls are needed to completely observe her facial movements while she talks without feeling any nervousness.

The way I learned was by trying to guess what people were saying with their bodies, then making assumptions and see if you are right. The other night I was watching these girls talk to each other and one left, the other two got real quiet and couldnt look at each other. I made the observation to them that the girl who left was the glue who kept them all together. Just take your time and observe a lot more.

I would't worry about body language before you even approach a girl. There are too many factors in play that determine how a person looks at that specific time. She could of had a really bad morning or had a work problem that has her worried. None of these things mean that she wouldn't like some distraction in the form of a conversation with you.

I have a lot of success opening girls that are looking at their phones. Most of them are not doing anything that important. They just want to kill time, and a human being is more entertaining to talk to than staring into a phone. Once you talk to them you can start thinking about their body language.

Man, I wouldn't worry about body language so much. You're all up in your head.

I was on a date tonight with a girl I met at the grocery store over the weekend & she had horrible body language but we ended with a great makeout session. I slept with a girl on Saturday that I met Thursday, who exhibited horrible body language too.

What do they both have in common? They were intimidated by me. 1 IS shy and the other ISN'T shy but she was around me. If I was searching for IOI validation, I wouldn't have found it.
