I’m basically stunned at my idiocy.
I’m not really here for hooks up, and am generally interested in having a relationship, provided there is a nice person to get to know. But when there seems to be this nice person and we just so happen to only be able to text at first, I fuck everything up.
See, when I’m texting my friends I somehow already know them and through a mixture of inside jokes, memes, and few witty lines I regularly make them laugh, and keep the conversation entertaining. But when I don’t know the other person properly, what is it that I say? Can’t send memes because we don’t know each other, can’t tell inside jokes because there are none, can’t ask about feelings or personal life because it’s me being a weirdo unless it’s somehow justified by the context (usually isn’t, so far we’re just chatting on Instagram), so the only things left are the weather and probably school, or some immediate similarities we might share (I’ve seen you’ve been in Berlin, I was in Berlin as well… it’s a nice city, feels so German(?????) like what more could I possibly say??
If this post feels like there is too much to unpack here, I would be glad about some reading recommendations, provided these are more about talking with strangers in general rather than “the game” because I probably need to start from the basics…
