Here is a mini FR from yesterday though:

The other day i went to get food off base (I'm air force) and in front of me on line, this group of people were joking around so I joined in. Turned out that i just became friends with my county mayor and some of his staffers. I was by myself so he invited me to sit with them. After a few minutes of chatting one of the women asks if I'm single and tells me how one of their friends daughters works on the base and writes the girls name down telling me I should introduce myself.

This is where the online part comes in. Originally I wasn't going to but yesterday I was in a Yolo mood. I had no way to figure out where this girls office is but we have a chat program where you can look up whoever so I sent her a message saying "this is the most random thing I'm doing all week, but we have a mutual friend who said I should introduce myself to you." We chatted for a bit and I was very straightforward about my intent and we got coffee after work. She asked me on the second date before we even left the coffee shop. The trick is to just say what you'd normally say in a day game scenario

Tl;dr just do it and say whatever feels right to you

I advise you to check out a site like omegle. You'll be able to conversate with plenty of strangers and develop that skill of developing the conversation.
