Jesus no. You have to make it obvious like you ARE hitting on her, thats the point. If you confuse the hell out of her she either thinks you're a salesman or a serial killer.

Ultimately you can say a lot of stupid shit to open and it will work if she fancies you even a tiny bit. Why not just ask her about something she's wearing or what kind of phone she has etc. or even the freaking time.

I've done this by true mistake (I swear!), followed up with something like "you really have a doppleganger", and chat ensued. I'll try it again this afternoon, this time with anybody.
