To answer your question: In a club or party setting, it's helps a LOT to know how to dance. That said, you don't have to be the flashiest dancer. You need to be the dancer that's having a lot of fun. Not the most, but enough to where girls won't be afraid of you approaching them (Overdancing can and does happen a lot).

If you want to get into Dance Floor Game, I'd suggest watching this video of a guy doing 50 different dance moves. Look at the ones where the guy looks like he's having genuine fun and not being TOO flashy.

I'll give you the newbie routine I give to every person new to Dance Floor Game:

Make eye contact
Smile
Point/gesture
Walk over to her
Put out your hand
Spin her around, then put her hands on your neck.
Hold both her hands, and slow things down. This creates the feeling of being in a moment while the environment continues to move fast.
Tell her this: "Wow, I just realized you dance like nobody is watching. I really admire you for that" This will genuinely make the girl feel better about herself, and will give the "He understands me" sort of feeling.

I'd suggest staying away from Dance Floor Game until you become good at basic social skills such as conversation basics and such. Ultimately, it's your choice. Hope this helps!

I can't dance for shit, but I go out there and have as much fun as possible and I always get to dance with hot chicks. Girls don't care what you do or say, they care how you do it, and they can see if you're insecure.

Just go have fun out there and the girls will come. Pun intended.

Also learning very basic grinding is helpful

It's not a big deal. If you want to learn, ask a friend or look online. If your desperate take a class. But you really don't need to.

Dancing well is one way to get chicks attention/ attract girls at club, but there are other ways to do that as well. If you want to dance to attract, you gotta be at least the most flash guy on the floor.

It is a clear cut advantage to be able to dance well. It is not necessary. Just have a few drinks, feel the music, and emulate what others are doing. Find some local dance lessons, take one or two, and learn some extremely basic movements to the beat. I go line dancing twice a week to stay in shape, have fun with friends, and stay in practice.

It's not about what you look like dancing. Women don't just think "Oh wow he can really dance, I want to bear his children." If you look like you're having a hell of a time, and you're comfortable with yourself, women will find that attractive. Its all about what you say and how you say it in my opinion.
