Are you cold messaging strangers on instagram? Maybe I'm old fashioned but that might be your problem right there.

If you're talking dating app, my goal is usually just to be memorable with my first few messages. She's on tinder to get laid, she already swiped on me indicating she would theoretically have sex with me, as long as I don't fuck it up. Ask her something weird. "Yo, this is so serious. Have you ever made banana bread??" Or give her a weird compliment. "I want to put you in a cone and eat your hair like cotton candy holy shit." Sometimes the blatant sexual proposal works but there's a time and a place for it. You have to be sure that's what they're looking for or frame it in a way that you're saying it SPECIFICALLY to them, not just to every girl you match. And if they say no you let it go 100%, you don't get mad, you don't try to ask them out, you say OK and just leave it. They'll almost never go for it right away but sometimes they'll message you back asking for it later.

The problem might be that you're trying to be engaging out of the blue on social media. Of course it's hard to click with them and get interesting convos flowing, you're sending messages on a screen to a stranger. I'm not saying it can't be done, but it misses all those nice nuances you get when talking in real life.

I think it's a problem with the younger generation (myself included), because it's very easy to do, there's no face to face rejection and there's not much shame if it doesn't work out because you're in your room at home. However engaging with people face to face will actually result in more easy, dynamic and meaningful conversations and from there you can follow up with text, because you've already had a few inside jokes, a bit of banter, know what each other likes, etc.

I'm not saying to stop what you're doing, but maybe it's time to find ways to engage with new girls face to face before talking online.
