This is not new information but I thought I'd share it anyway in hopes that it will help others. You can find similar information in books about psychology and NLP.

I thought of this on my own a long time ago after getting fed up with not remembering women's names. I realized that the problem was that, for some reason, I was allowing this information to enter one ear and exit straight through the other. It was as if my brain was already wired to passively receive this new information.

I decided that from there on I was going to make a conscious effort to remember people's names as soon as they revealed it. It's actually very simple.

When she tells you your name simply REPEAT IT BACK TO HER. Example:

You: "By the way, I'm Bob"

Her: "Oh, I'm Emily."

You: "Nice to meet you, Emily."

You can insert any giberrish after her response, just make sure you say her name and look her straight in the eye when you say it. Please don't be a creep. Smile naturally when you do this.

I emphasized looking into her eyes when you do it because when she gives you her name your mind needs to be in the moment. Your mind cannot be wandering into any other thought except what is happening right in front of you. Otherwise, it will not work because you are listening passively, not actively.

In addition, you are creating a visual anchor in your mind that says, this face/this person = name. Anchors are always super useful for remembering anything and we've all used them.

MY RESULTS

I've been doing this for maybe 3-4 years now. I can meet you once, talk to you for 5 or 10 minutes, and I'll most likely remember your name if I choose that I want to remember it. It's not always perfect, of course. The foreign names that I can't relate to anything that is already familiar to me are the most difficult. For those names, I'll repeat back to them 2 or 3 times and write it down later. After I write it down, it becomes engrained in my memory and I don't have to look at the paper again.

Women love it when you remember their name and it's always fun to tease them when they can't remember yours ;)

"You forgot already? Oh this is DEFINITELY not going to work out."

Plus, it's super useful in the business world.

REMEMBERING HER NAME THE NEXT TIME YOU SEE HER

The information is in your memory. The difficulty is in finding it. Believe it. It's there.

Have you ever tried to remember something and think to yourself, "shit, I completely forgot", and then later on it comes back to you when you're not even trying to recall that information? It's because the information is already there, it always was, you just need to calm down, ignore the noise around you, and focus on it.

MY THEORY ON WHY WORKS

By repeating her name you're making an conscious effort of LISTENING to her name and repeating it back to her. If you don't ACTIVELY listen you can't possibly store it in your memory and, less, repeat it back to her. The whole point of this is to force you to make a conscious effort to listen actively, not passively.

WHAT TO DO IF YOU FORGOT HER NAME

Be honest with her. Stop the bullshit. You're human. Nobody ever gave you an instruction manual on the human brain. Ask for her name again, look her straight in the eyes, and repeat it back to her. This time you better not forget ;)

Happy sarging all.
