Just be nice. No, not because women are turned off by being nice.

Nice is the bare minimum of positive interaction. Too much of this and a person will think you're not interested because, again, you are giving the bare minimum.

Couple this with talking about specific people you're attracted to, you should be alright.

Though I would definitely recommend telling her outright. Say that you enjoy her company however you don't see any further than what it is now. That's one way to say it, I think.

You don't have to actively show disinterest unless they're very forward. All you have to do is not actively show interest. Don't agree to plans with them, don't be flirty, don't isolate.

If they're especially forward, just tell them outright.

Be nice, don't get all wierd on her. Be honest as to why, most people lie or just get distant. That freaks the other person out, so just be open and don't treat it like its something awful ("Nooooooo not heerrrr!!!, run away!!!!")
