Granted I (22m) changed these things all about the same time which probably made helped, I had been in a relationship with a really shit person and basically came out the other side a weak, miserable and scruffy dump. I decided shit needed to change cause you can be living depressed for months and not a soul notice.

  1. Get haircut that changes ‘your look’ but enhances your good features. Now this probably helps if you’re more attractive than most but as long as you’re average in looks it should still help. I originally had short-medium(ish) hair and a stubble, I looked clean when done up but when I didn’t look after it I looked very scruffy. I firstly wanted to shake my old self I decided I wanted to revamp my look (brit spears moment) ive always been told i have a very nice face and facial structure, so I wanted to enhance that by shaving clean, to pronounce those good features. I then gave myself a buzz cut (5 all over for those interested) and then lined it up myself, so it cost me $0. At first I was like what the fuck have I done?!? I looked completely different, but within 2 days that opinion totally changed, I had more than a few people tell me they really liked it, people said they liked my cheekbones, my jaw, someone even said “I didn’t actually realise how much of a pretty face you have”, without me even saying anything! People have also said I look more badass, I guess before I looked a bit preppy boy, this new haircut has made me appear far more masculine. Personally I like my lips and eyes the most, having shaven the facial hair is not distracting from my lips anymore and having less hair my blue eyes are easier to see. Immediately I noticed a slight increase in attention from good looking girls, I wasn’t ready for it almost.

  2. Make yourself some friends who are actually girls and treat them like you would any friend. Girls are actually cool when they realise you’re not just talking to them to fuck you and the insights I get are amazing. My biggest tip I’ve learnt is STOP HITTING ON GIRLS OVER TEXT! seriously it makes so much sense, in this day and age every girl has legit 100+ guys in her messages hitting on her, every one of my girl friends say the same thing, “we would rather be out and meet someone then start flirting over text” and “the same guy who hits me up online who gets ignored could be the same guy I meet out one night and actually hit it off with”. So what did I do? I just made friends with people who I’m texting with, I leave making a move and that to in person. Guys start calling the girls cheeky names and stuff after like 4-5 messages, it comes off as not genuine, you don’t need to establish game over text, just chat to them like you would your friends, get to know them they probably have interesting things to say, every good relationship requires some sort of friendship base, you’re not friendzoning yourself by talking to her as friend first and not hitting on her over text, unless you leave it like 3 months. But if you are just casual, give them something to reply to and being interested/interesting will work much better than calling them names like “honey” or something after chatting for 1 night. I also find if you’re unsure what kind of person they are ask to do a morning activity first, like walk around the park and coffee idk just something that doesn’t sound like it could end in you trying to have sex with them after meeting the first time. Meeting after having established a friendship is the best thing you can do honestly.

  3. Get a tan, and hit a gym. I’m no big tank guy by any means I weigh like 62kgs but hitting the gym boosts confidence and that’s a requirement for anything in life not just dating. You’ll soon start seeing some differences, you’ll feel stronger and the testosterone boost (if you’re male) does wonders. Mix that with a tan and you’re looking like a healthy, fit and confident person. If you’re a bit like me and only tan to a certain degree get some gradual tanning moisturiser, just makes you like 1-2 shades darker and you don’t look like you’re wearing fake tan and keeps your skin looking youthful. Also if you can, aim to double your water intake, hydration is underrated and can make you just look more vibrant and feel healthy.

Try and apply these if you’re in a similar situation, I basically made all these changes within the space of 1 day.
