I approached a girl on the dancefloor who was dancing with her friends, all wearing 'hen night' T-shirts.

My friend said to me ''Open her by asking which of her friends are getting married!!'', so I took his advice.

I approached her and said ''Hi! Which of you are getting married?''

She just pointed at her friend.

And then.....I didn't know what to say! lol. It was super embarrassing. I was lie ''Cool!''. Then my brain was thinking 'OK , the topic is marriage'' - and then I think I asked her if she was married or somehing, but she just shook her head and ran away from me, lol. I think part of the problem is that i'm scared to ask the 'typical guy questions' that everyone else asks since it's something i'm trying too avoid since learning 'pickup' (like I could obviously have asked her where she had been that night, where she comes from etc but I read not to do that)

What should I have said after she responded to my opener, though?

I can't seem to train my brain to come up with things to say no matter how much I go out and approach. Like I have some sort of mental block at making conversation with strangers.
