I can pick up, more or less. Yeah, I'm no pro, but I feel like I've managed to accomplish very good first impressions (primarily from what I've learned here of course). I can get the number, I can get to the first date. My obstacle: I don't know how to start a relationship.

My philosophy on the situation has moved from active to passive. Originally, I would get excited. "Let's make this happen!" I'd think. I appeared eager, too eager. I'm not desperate, I'm passionate, but that means nothing when perception is reality. So, if I act desperate, if I come off as desperate I am desperate.

My new philosophy has become more live and let die. Instead of trying to make a relationship happen, I'm trying to let one happen. Problem is, I don't know how to do that. I don't even know if that's right.

One scenario; girl said a relationship would never work because I'm too smart and she had no idea what I'm talking about. Of course, that's not really what that means; there was some other issue. Not sure what, but that's dead and gone. I think I just made things awkward, and I definitely spent too much time texting.

So, how can I break down this wall? Where is the door to the next room?

(TL;DR) I don't really know what a relationship is or how to start one.
