I need something less trivial than "What time is it?"

So I'm trying to whittle away at my approach anxiety per Mark Manson's method of starting small, but I'm pretty sure it's kind of odd to ask people what time it is when it's pretty certain that almost everyone has a phone these days -- any suggestions on something other than that?

I'm thinking about just asking for directions to places.

Typically, I'll be doing this around my university.
