I'm not funny. Any tips on how to fix this?

Watch stand-up comedy. Laugh and enjoy yourself, then understand the storytelling and mannerisms. Try translating those same emotions onto someone else by mimicking.

The bar for humor is set very low. You don't need to be a professional to convey personality.

I find the best way to be funny is to just stop filtering your thoughts. Obviously some places aren't appropriate for this, but when appropriate that's the best way to get a laugh or two.

For example, the other day I was at a Fanzz store in Utah. The girl helping me was showing me a few Jazz hats. She pulls one out and I said the first thing that came to mind "That's a black man hat." she bust out laughing and told me I just made her day. I didn't see anything funny about it at first, it's just what I was thinking, she thought it was hilarious.

I've often found that being honest with your personality around others can often translate to conveying a general aura of humor. What I mean by this, basically, is to be yourself, completely. Don't even dare try and be somebody completely different or imitate the actions of others hoping to elicit the same reactions they did (especially when you're in the presence of said person, you'll look quite desperate). Remember that the definition of "funny" varies very much from person to person. Also, you said that you have a great laugh, have been told you're fun to be around, and appreciate good humor. Don't focus too much on being the source of humor; as long as you're giving off a good vibe, people will want to be around you.

Intentionally misunderstand situations and ask implied questions that are obviously wrong (about her or the environment, key is to keep it PC/non-offensive). It takes some being creative, but I'm not embarrassed about being shut down and when it works, it is awesome bc it's original and funny. Works great on the metro, lots of stuff, people and scenarios going on there.

When asked common questions, answer with something obviously ludicrous. For example, Asian girl asks you "Where do you think I'm from?" I apologize for being "bad at this game" and guess Nigeria. You can do the same when a girl asks you to guess her age, just shoot super high or super low and be relieved when she's not super old and not super young bc you don't date senior citizens/teenagers or whatever you wanna throw in there. Always apologize for being bad at the guessing game.

Also, when asked about things you don't want to answer or want to hold them in suspense about, answer with something very implausible. When asked abt my job, I tell people I'm a door to door salesmen, selling doors. If they ask how it goes, I say "It's tough selling to people that have doors, but we do well after natural disasters." And my real job gets a lot of people thinking I do something else bc it's super uncommon, so I actually just play to their imagination for a while, then let them in on the fact once they're suspecting its not possible.

The key is, these are all fairly funny, but also convo builders. And when you lie for fun and let them in on it, it builds some level of trust, makes them laugh abt believing you and the convo evolves from there.

Read more books. Try to imitate the characters when they do or say something funny. Be subtle about it. Who you are isn't working, try wearing somebody else's skin.
