I was pretty into pickup about 10 years ago. There was a company that sold pheromone colognes as sprays and oils. They had a forum with what must have been tens of thousands of posts discussing gaming strategy, mixing pheromones, field reports, and so on. It was pretty eye-opening and what I initially wrote off as snake-oil I decided to give a try and ordered some.

It was mind-blowing how well some of this stuff worked. I honestly don't even think it was the placebo effect or a confirmation bias. I would wear a type of pheromone cologne that I was told attracted people and sure enough people would come approach me for conversations. This is not how things were beforehand. When I would go in enclosed areas way more people would look at me. If I would wear a spray that was meant for older guys and had too much pheromones in it I would literally get in confrontations with women I otherwise never had been in before. Like arguments with salespeople over absolutely nothing. People would just get agitated with me for no reason.

I haven't used them for many years because they almost felt like too much of a cheat code and I haven't really been gaming much because I had some things change in my life. It seems that they are almost never discussed on these forums. Further the pheromone forum I was talking about earlier has shut down a couple years ago and there are like no remnants of it. The company apparently has changed a bit also. What I had once envisioned as being a very important part of the pickup community or even just a way to get girls the same way they use makeup, is never discussed at all.

Why did this not get bigger? Do any of you use pheromone colognes or do you think it is just a waste of money and useless?
