Tried asking about the picture.... tried making general statements. Tried complimenting (iknowiknow)... But just not getting it.

Commenting on her picture or making an observational statement on something in her picture or bio, can work.
Compliments..... nope.
I've personally seen a lot more responses back based on asking them questions about the places they list for where they are from. A lot of them like to list a home location that's not where they are right then, but rather a place that means something to them. Like a girl might list Australia and/or a particular city.
- So ask them if they're from their listed city.
- If they're not at the city they list:
  - Ask if they have been there
  - or if they miss it there.

And in general, it bears reminding that any sort of app use like this to try to meet girls, should NEVER be a primary source of a social life or dates. In person/in real life, should be.

Also, and this is important: If you're doing outside of Asia, then you're unlikely to see many responses or much of success rate. Why?

In Asia, you can tap into the whole zeitgeist there of many Asian girls having the fantasy of being involved with a foreigner. The ones IN Asia, are more likely to be responsive because they're stuck in Asia.

The girls who are already abroad, already have access to enough guys in person, and the paradigm has been flipped for them. Instead of being in a place where they are ordinary and commonplace, where women are competing heavily with themselves (in Asia), they are in a place where they are considered exotic, and guys are falling all over themselves in person already, let alone online.
