I was in the same position, didn't realize I liked her until a certain point after five years, and just went ahead and asked if I could talk to her about something serious for a moment. It went great for me. She later showed me texts where she talked about it with her friend and her friend thought it was hot.

Right spirit, wrong execution. Don't try to be subtle or try to set her up to say something. Find a way to express directly (IN PRIVATE) that you're interested in her, a little why you feel that way, felt like she should know, and wondering if she feels the same. Don't say love or write love letter shit - but, you know, express what you appreciate and respect about her. Moderation is what stops it from being creepy.

If she feels the same, great - now you both know and can go forward. If not - well now it's off your chest. The most anxious part is asking and waiting for the response. Any outcome after that is just sweet release. There are worst case scenarios for her potential response but most would say a lot more about them than you.

You're right that this isn't the right sub for this. If you see anyone use the word 'game' or 'friendzone' replying to your situation specifically, ignore their advice. Most people are here to talk about dating/fucking acquaintences and strangers.

You most likely get told the “i only like you as a friend” or let’s just be friends” or “i dont see you like that, i don’t wanna lose the friendship that we have”.

Bold is good when you flirt and turn on the heat, not when you want to do something silly like revealing your feelings that you have been hiding while developing a close friendship.

You pretty much put yourself in the friendzone by becoming such close friends with her for so long. I get it you realised now you like her, but i’m afraid it’s just not gonna happen, because you didn’t create the right vibe from the beginning with her and now it’s too late.

Being bold is good

But that language is smothering. A girl wants to have fun and it's your job to provide a light and playful experience for her
