I've seen talk like this from multiple sources, but what inspired this post is this recent comment I read on RSDnation. Tyler made a post asking people about what their "rock bottom" was like, and this was one of the responses

Doing RSD for too long. -Getting engrained in the pick up mentality, eventually starting to believe this is how the world actually works. -Losing touch with who you are in process of trying to become a "superperson" invented and sold by a company. -Talking to girls not to have a good time, but to satisfy your ego. And consequentually being surprised that said girls see trough your robotic and narcissistic behaviour. -Trying to be something you're not instead of building on the person you are.

Even though I see my pick up phase as a destructive period. I'd do it all over again. And I am thankful for everything I learned from my time with RSD.

If you can look past the bumper sticker arguments and new age motivational, you'll find some solid gold advice.

Is it really cult like or is it a legit way to improve yourself? Is their philosophy manipulative or genuine?
