Here's a little short story that will hopefully entertain.

Who: Christina and I What: Number Acquisition Where: Work When: Monday November 25, 2013 Why: Because I'm trying to get comfortable with uncomfortable situations, especially with girls

Story:

My usual run consists of saying hello to Christina, who is the "secretary/receptionist" who works at the front desk there, and going into Lou's office to get my signatures. It's about 2:40PM when I went in yesterday. Before I could even ask for Lou, Christina told me "Lou just left for the day." I wasn't disappointed but I was just surprised to see that he wasn't there.

Then Christina and I had some small talk, nothing crazy. I told her I had to go back to work, and as I was walking out the door, I looked back and said, "it's Christina right?" and she nodded. I asked if she remembered my name, but she forgot so I walked away making sure she knew I was disappointed.

I went back to work and started thinking to myself, "Why don't I just get her number? Ask her for a drink or SOMETHING atleast!" I started over-analyzing things like the typical, "what am I gonna say?" and "how should I approach?" and eventually almost talked myself out of it. I had this thought for about 15 minutes, and by this time it was about 2:55PM AND I would be clocking out in 5 minutes. I had to make a decision.

Then within those 5 minutes, I switched my mind around from "I can't do it" to "You know what? It's not going to hurt anyone, just do it Dav you have nothing to lose." After that simple switch, a flood of positive emotions and vibes started filling my head and I basically became numb or in other words, I was in a mental state of not giving a fuck.

It was 3:05PM when I clocked out. As I was walking to my car I started getting nervous and started questioning myself again. I got in my car, and started driving.

For me to go home, I would usually make a left out of the parking lot, but for Christina, I would have to make a right. I remember specifically my mind was telling me to go left, but my body just automatically went right.

"well, I guess I'm going to do it."

I pull in to the parking lot, and walk in to the building. Christina greets me;

"Hey, whats up?"

"Nothing much, just got off work, you?"

"Eh, same old same old"

"Hahaha, well I had a question"

"What's up"

(awkwardly) "Well, you seem you like a cool girl and I was wondering if you were free to catch a drink?"

She face-palmed and laughed

"Sure, why not"

...continues laughing...

"what's so funny?"

"nothing"

"you know you can tell me, too cheesy or too corny?"

"yea something along those lines"

"cool, well thats my style *wink"

more laughter

so all in all, I grew some balls and got a number yesterday. I'm planning on going for a drink sometime next week. Feels great to be finally getting out of my shell and getting one step closer to the confident individual I aim to be.

This experience also made me realize that whatever goes on in my head is bullshit and that all it is, is to just DO IT. Who cares if you don't know what to say? Who cares if you blank out? Who cares what she thinks of you? In this large world we live in, things like that are just so miniscule. Experience is what really teaches us. Experience is what will get us what we want. From now on, I'll make sure to keep in mind that the next time I start doubting myself, I'll just have grab my balls and face the music, because THAT is the only way that I will learn.
